Canada Day in Carleton

Friends,

I just wanted to provide a brief summary of Canada Day events happening in our riding of Carleton so that you are aware of all fun activities. I would also like to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Canada Day. Have fun celebrating Canada’s 149th birthday and be safe.

Stittsville

Canada Day in Stittsville kicks off at 3:00pm with an opening ceremony and free birthday cake. After that, stage entertainment takes over until dusk, featuring PlumPuppet Entertainment, U-Rock Music School, David DaCosta, Man’s and the Fam, Retro Rats, Bustin’ Loose, and High Maintenance. In the family area, there will be games and inflatable bouncies for the kids, face painting, a magic show and a strolling magician, horse-drawn wagon rides, and interactive fun with Mad Science Ottawa and Big Sky Ranch Animal Sanctuary. At dusk, 1000 red glow sticks will be handed out in preparation for the big fireworks finale. This is a family-friendly celebration, and everyone is invited.

Greely

Greely has all sorts of fun-packed activities for children starting at 5:00pm. From the bouncy castle to the trolley ride there is something for all the kids. There will be a firefighters’ demonstration, free BBQ hosted by Councillor Darouze and Greely Idol at 9:00pm. All activities are taking place at the Greely Community Centre ending with fireworks at 10:00pm. Don’t miss the fun in Greely!

Vernon

It’s full day of fun in Vernon. There will be children’s activities, including pony rides, face painting and games all afternoon at the Vernon Recreation Centre. Bytown Ukulele Group will have a jamming extravaganza from 2:00-4:00pm and the BBQ is from 1:00-6:00pm. The Vernon Seniors Group is hosting a Euchre Tournament from 7:00-9:00pm in the Main Hall and fireworks at dusk!

Osgoode

In Osgoode, there will be free children’s activities from 2:00-5:00pm, including an inflatable bouncy castle, obstacle course and petting zoo. All activities will take place outside the Stuart Holmes Arena and Osgoode Community Centre. There will be a BBQ from 2:00-6:00pm hosted by the Osgoode Business Ward Association. At 5:00pm, the parade will depart from Osgoode Main Street at Nixon. There will be live entertainment in the afternoon and fireworks are at 10:00pm!

Riverside South

Canada Day starts early in Riverside South with rides, shows and fun activities from 10:00am-2:00pm. Activities resume again at 9:00pm with fire dancers, followed by fireworks at 10:00pm. All activities will take place at Claudette Cain Park.

Manotick

In Manotick, you can enjoy children’s carnival games and crafts from 10:00am-4:00pm. There will be live entertainment by the Manotick Brass Band from 1:30-3:30pm. All activities will take place in Dickinson Square nearby Watson’s Mill and Dickinson House.

North Gower

In North Gower, the fun begins at 12:30pm with the annual bike parade. The opening ceremonies, rides and activities begin at 1:00pm. The Frisbee golf tournament starts at 6:00pm, followed by fireworks at dusk.
