MANOTICK, ON — On September 28, Hon. Pierre Poilievre, MP for Nepean-Carleton was joined by Canadian Hurdles Champion Sekou Kaba, Senator Marjory LeBreton, former MP Bill Tupper, Rich MacDonald, MPP Lisa MacLeod and Councillor Scott Moffatt to launch his new Manotick office in the heart of the historic village.

With the help of over twenty volunteers, more than five hundred pancakes were served to two hundred local constituents, neighbours, and supporters.  Aside from the delicious pancakes, the event was highlighted by bagpipe performances by the “Great Scot”, the singing of ‘O Canada’ and ‘God Save the Queen’ by Sylvia MacDonald, a warm welcome speech from former MP Bill Tupper, a celebration for local constituent Sekou Kaba on winning the gold medal in the 110m hurdles at the Francophone Games, and a Proclamation Reading by Rich MacDonald and Senator LeBreton to officially open the new office.

In front of the large crowd, Poilievre spoke of the historical significance of being located near an early campaign office of Sir John A. MacDonald. Despite being a Kingstonian, MacDonald also won election in what was then the riding of Carleton.

Poilievre went on to describe how, in the House of Commons, he sits only meters away from where Winston Churchill stood and delivered his historic speech on December 30th, 1941. In great contemplation, he noted “It is deeply humbling to have this privilege, as it reminds me all at once how small am I, and how big is Parliament and the country it serves.”

Poilievre concluded with a quote from former Prime Minister John Diefenbaker. “I am a Canadian, a free Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.”

Constituents can contact the new office at 1139 Mill Street, Manotick by phone: 613 692 3331, by fax: 613 692 3303, by mail: PO Box 479, Manotick, ON K4M 1A5, or online at
