Poilievre Commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Sewing of the First Red Maple Leaf Flag Ever Flown

 

On November 14, 2014, Democratic Reform Minister Pierre Poilievre, MP for Nepean-Carleton, hosted a special commemoration ceremony for his constituent, Mrs. Joan O’Malley, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of when she sewed the first red maple leaf flag ever flown.

Minister Poilievre presented Joan with the flag that was flown on the Peace Tower on November 6th, 2014, marking exactly 50 years since the day Joan sewed the first red maple leaf flag ever flown.
