OTTAWA, ON – Today Pierre Poilievre, Carleton Member of Parliament and Opposition Critic for the National Capital Commission, called on NCC Minister Melanie Joly to allow the release of the scoring used to determine the preferred bidder for the LeBreton Flats project.

“Today I am calling on Minister Joly to allow the public release of the evaluation scores that were assigned to the two proponents for the LeBreton Flats development,” said Poilievre.

“There were two proposals considered by the National Capital Commission for the LeBreton Flats development: the RendezVous LeBreton Group and the Devcore Canderel DLS Group. The evaluation committee could award a maximum of 140 points based on eight criteria. However, we do not know how the two proponents were scored because the National Capital Commission is waiting on cabinet approval before releasing the scores – which might not be until 2018. Cabinet could waive this privilege and allow the release now.

“As the competition is now closed and a preferred bidder has not been announced, there is no reason that these scores need to be kept secret. This is not top secret government data: it was a very straightforward scoring criteria, and the public deserves to know how each proponent scored under that criteria.

“I call on Minister Joly to allow the National Capital Commission to publicly release these evaluation scores immediately,” Poilievre said. “The NCC should be commended for the professional manner in which it has managed the competition so far. Releasing the information would build on their success.”
