Poilievre Helps Celebrate Canada Day in Barrhaven

The Government of Canada provides support for Canada Day activities in Barrhaven

June 15, 2014 – Barrhaven, the Government of Canada is providing $15,000 to the West Barrhaven Community Association to support Canada Day activities on July 1st.  The activities include musical performances, children’s games, a midway, a flag parade and a fireworks display.

The announcement was made by the Honourable Pierre Poilievre, Minister of State (Democratic Reform) and Member of Parliament (Nepean–Carleton), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

“Our Government is proud to support all Canadians in celebrating Canada Day on July 1st,” stated Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. “It’s an opportunity to express our national pride and celebrate living in a free, democratic, bilingual and multicultural country.”

Like previous years, Barrhaven’s Canada Day celebrations will take place at Clarke Fields.

The Barrhaven Canada Day Committee brings together various community groups and partners whose goal is to incorporate activities in their Canada Day celebrations that represent the diversity of the region’s community.

“We are extremely proud of our Member of Parliament and Canadian Heritage for their contribution to the celebration of Canada Day in Barrhaven,” said Darrell Bartraw, Director of Special Events, West Barrhaven Community Association. “We thank them for their continued support of this year’s event.”
