FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – Pierre Poilievre, Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance, released the following statement regarding Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland breaking the record for the longest period in Canadian history without presenting an economic plan:

“In a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, that has led to a devastating economic downturn, entrepreneurs and workers are looking to get their livelihoods back. Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland have responded by breaking Canada’s record for the longest period without an economic plan, an admission they have no plan for our economic recovery.

“Canada has produced economic plans and budgets through World Wars and the Great Depression. COVID-19 has not prevented an economic plan from being presented, but rather the Liberal government has demonstrated a complete inability to bring forward a plan that meets this moment.

“Millions of Canadians are getting left behind. There are a million missing paychecks and the only way that we will recover those missing paychecks is by focusing on private sector job creation, getting the government out of the way of entrepreneurs, and unleashing the economic firepower of Canada’s 20-million-person workforce.

“Under the leadership of Erin O’Toole, Conservatives will present a real and tangible plan for Canada’s economic recovery, get out of the way of small businesses by cutting red tape and lowering taxes on those entrepreneurs, so that they can bring our main streets buzzing back to life.”
