November 8, 2014
Gloucester, ON – Democratic Reform Minister Pierre Poilievre, MP for Nepean-Carleton, joined Mayor Jim Watson, Deputy Mayor Steve Desroches, and MPP Lisa MacLeod at the official renaming ceremony of the new Vimy Memorial Bridge.
“Having contributed one-third of the funding for the Vimy Memorial Bridge, our government is proud to honour those who fought and died for our nation by commemorating the bridge with this new name,” said Minister Poilievre. “Canadians across the country are coming together to commemorate many important military milestones and anniversaries. This year is the 100th anniversary of the beginning of WWI. Next year will mark 70 years since the end of WWII.”
