OTTAWA, ON – Carleton Member of Parliament, Pierre Poilievre, is calling on the Liberal government to reveal the list of possible sites they are considering for the future Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus.

“The previous Conservative government accepted the decision of a hospital-appointed expert panel, which studied twelve locations and recommended the federal land across the street from the existing campus. Since forming government, the Liberals have slammed the brakes on the location and they have asked the hospital to provide multiple options for a future location. The hospital provided four options with a full analysis of each in a report last month.

“Still not satisfied, the Liberal government then moved the matter over to the National Capital Commission for a decision, even though the Commission is not responsible for health care and doesn’t own the land in question.

“The Liberals promised to be open and transparent. If they are considering other potential sites, the community deserves to know about it now. If not, what is the NCC doing?

“Minister Catherine McKenna has to be the first MP in the history of politics to fight against a hospital in her own riding.

“The Liberals blocked the hospital location out of spite against John Baird and the previous Conservative government. Now they are scrambling to find another location to save face and avoid admitting their politically-motivated mistake. Meanwhile, the ninety-two year-old hospital is falling apart and Ottawa is falling behind in competing for scarce provincial health care dollars.”
