Barrhaven Canada Day Committee Receives $15K

Barrhaven – Pierre Poilievre, MP for Nepean-Carleton, announced that Canadian Heritage has granted $15,000 to the Barrhaven Canada Day Committee to help make the celebration a success. This money comes from the Celebrate Canada fund, which brings Canadians together, strengthens our communities and helps us to celebrate the country we live in.

“Canada Day is an opportunity to celebrate our nation’s past, present and future and I am happy that the federal government is encouraging this effort through the Celebrate Canada Fund,” said Poilievre. “This year marks Canada’s 145th birthday and I am happy to announce that we are giving the Barrhaven Canada Day Committee a record amount of money to ensure its success.”

The funds will go towards fireworks, live entertainment from members of the community, as well as games and activities for children. It is expected that 30,000 people will participate in this celebration on July 1st and will involve a wide array of people from the community.

“We are very excited for what we have planned for this years’ Canada Day Celebrations at Clarke Fields Park – we hope that you will agree that this is the biggest and best Barrhaven Canada Day Celebration yet,” said Darrell Bartraw, Chair of the Mattamy Homes Canada Day in Barrhaven. “We have lots more free stuff for kids of all ages as well as a sing and dance along with ‘Alter Ego’, our headliner band.” This year, Ross’ Independent will be offering shuttle service from their store to Clarke Fields Park for only $1, return. Bartraw is encouraging everyone to use this service as parking restrictions will be in effect.
