Ottawa, Bayshore – Local residents gathered at a rally this past Saturday to fight against local crime. Together with community activists, MP Pierre Poilievre attended to urge stronger action on crime and to highlight the government’s plans to tackle crime in our community.

The rally took place in front of the Food Frenz corner store on Carling Avenue, which has been robbed five times in the last four weeks.  Mr. Poilievre was contacted by Shirley Mosley, the rally’s organizer, to get involved and show solidarity with his fellow Ottawa residents.

“No part of our society is immune to the menace of criminal activity,” stated Mr. Poilievre, whose own riding was recently rocked by the news of three high school aged students who robbed a local video store at knife-point. “That is why our Government is passing laws that will keep lawbreakers behind bars where they can’t reoffend.  It is also why I secured needed federal funds for Chief Vern White`s drug treatment and prevention plan, which will keep our kids off drugs.”
