OTTAWA, ON – Today Carleton Member of Parliament Pierre Poilievre launched a petition against the Liberal government’s decision to locate the new Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus at Tunney’s Pasture.
Petition e-702 calls on the Liberal government to respect the hospital’s decision to locate its new campus across the street from its current campus.
“For the third time in a decade, the Ottawa Hospital has said that the Tunney’s Pasture location is unsuitable to build a hospital,” said Poilievre. “Since 2007, they have said that it’s unsuitable due to land access, land area, proximity to the 417 highway, land preparation, and future expansion prospects. Despite this, the Liberal government is forcing the hospital to locate there.”
“Locating the Civic Campus was settled in November 2014 by the Conservative government,” Poilievre said. “But that wasn’t good enough for the Liberal MP for Ottawa Centre, Catherine McKenna. This mess is completely at her feet.”
“My petition calls on the government to accept the hospital’s decision to relocate in the big open field across the street from its current campus.”
